What are Human Rights?

Human Rights are inalienable fundamental rights to which an individual is inherently entitled simply because he or she is  a human being. They are applicable everywhere and at every time. Human Rights are believed to belong to every person.

These rights are considered universal to humanity, regardless of citizenship, ethnicity, gender etc.

Section 2 (d) of The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 defines Human Rights. The section says – Human Rights are the rights relating to life, liberty, dignity and equality of an individual guaranteed by the constitution of embodied in the international covenants and enforceable by courts in India.
