Modi Allocates Rs. 28,000 Crore for New Railway Lines in the Northeast
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Nagaland, announced that the Centre will allocate a fund of Rs. 28,000 crore for the establishment of 14 new railway lines in the Northeast.
Modi greeted the people of Nagaland on the 51st Statehood day. He also greeted them for the Hornbill festival, which will be celebrated today across the state.
During his address, PM Modi said that it is a great honor for him to be in Nagaland. He said that he is hopeful that “the festival will promote, safeguard and protect the unique cultural diversity of the state”.
According to him, the 51 years of statehood is the occasion to look back and introspect the development the state had and it proves the strength of the people of Nagaland.
During his speech, Modi also said that he has been in the chair of PM for six months and his government has taken initiatives for the development of the country and followed this by announcing that a package of Rs. 28,000 crores will be allotted for the establishment of 14 new railway lines in the Northeast.
He is hopeful that people will come to Northeast area for investment and tourism will flourish in the state. The climate and biodiversity of the state is good reason to attract visitors. He said that though it takes only a few hours to reach Nagaland from Delhi, it took more than 10 years for a Prime Minister to reach the state.
He observed that there are special economic zones in certain parts of the country, but Nagaland is a natural economic zone and he wanted to tap this advantage for the Northeast.
PM Modi also announced the various scholarships for the students from Northeast and according to him 10,000 students will be benefitted by the scholarships. He also started the new schemes to help teachers and students to obtain exposure and training from the premier institutes such as IIT.
He also has plans to start apparel manufacturing units in each of the states in the Northeast which includes Assam, Sikkim, and Nagaland. The Northeast people will be happy that they are getting the identification from the central government and there will be developments in the states which will change their lives for good. The scholarships will provide many students the chance to have better education and training. The changes will make the society stronger and an industrial one. There are a lot of promises made by the Prime Minister for the Northeast and hope that all these promises are fulfilled.
