Careers of 2,100 students are at stake, CBSE should not have scrapped re-evaluation: Delhi High Court

0.21 PER CENT MISTAKES OUT OF THE 10 LAKH STUDENTS MEAN “CAREERS OF 2,100 STUDENTS ARE AT STAKE”: DELHI HIGH COURT

J. Sanjeev Sachdeva of Delhi High Court while hearing a student’s plea for re-evaluation of her class XII board exam answer sheets of English and Maths subjects, asked Central Board of Secondary Education to do away re-evaluation policy as it makes mistakes.

When the CBSE argued that the re-evaluation policy was scrapped as there were only 0.21% mistakes out of the 10 lakh students (which accounts to 2100 students) who undertake the board exams across the country, the high court remarked as “careers of 2,100 students are at stake”.

However, the court did not pass any order on the student’s plea for re-evaluation.

Further, it has CBSE that if she can be provided copy of the answer sheets as per the application to which CBSE responded as the said re-verification had been carried out and there was no change in her marks. The lawyer further said the outcome of re-verification would be uploaded on CBSE website soon.

The court has now listed the matter for hearing on June 19. Also, the CBSE in another similar matter (on that date) will be challenging an Orissa High Court order, which has directed it to re-evaluate 159 answer sheets.
