Priya Paul, claiming to be biological daughter of Sanjay Gandhi, son of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film ‘Indu Sarkar’.
‘Indu Sarkar’, the movie, is set to release on 28th July 2017 and is set against the backdrop of emergency.
Plea of the Petitioner:
The petition seeks a stay on the movie and cancelation of the certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) until the makers delete the factual parts of the movie.
The petitioner has also asked for an explanation on what is fact and what is fiction in the said movie. On this, the filmmaker had clarified stating that only 30% of the movie is factual and the rest is fictional and had also said that he will be adding a disclaimer stating that the movie is mostly fictional.
The U/A certificate was granted to the film after 12 cuts in order to comply with the order of CBFC.
The division bench headed by Justice Anoop Mohta has posted the matter on 24th July 2017 for hearing.
